Few days ago, the newRIFF project team has stopped by the Klaipeda University Aquaculture Experimental Station, hosted by Lithuanian colleagues and Polish colleagues from Gdansk University. The topic of the meeting was the discussion on how to apply the Life Cycle Assessment<\/strong> methodology within the TETRAS <\/strong>project, with the aim of identifying the environmental benefits of the use of water and geothermal energy in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for the farming of trout.<\/p>\n\n

Two experimental plants were then visited: the first, a RAS plant used for shrimp breeding, the second, a RAS plant used for trout breeding.<\/p>\n\n

At a time when sustainability is at the heart of global discussions, initiatives like TETRAS and newRIFF remind us that there is always room for growth, development and innovation, and that together we can help preserve our planet while meeting society\u2019s growing food needs.<\/p>\n\n
