Poultrynsect event: Final Symposium

On 27 October, in Rome, took place the final event of Poultrynsect (https://poultrynsect.eu/index.php/news-event/) a research project developed by research institutes and academics from four European countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy and Norway) which aims to test the effects of insect larvae in the feed of slow-growing organic chickens to enable sustainable meat production, improve animal welfare and potentially meet consumer demand for healthier and more palatable natural meat products.

This important occasion brought together European experts in the field of insects, the quality of poultry meat, analysis of consumer preferences and the environmental impact of farms.

The newRIFF team took an active part in the event both as an organizer and as a participant. This was a fundamental opportunity to gather, share experiences and gain new knowledge in view of the newRIFF project that will include an in-depth analysis of the overall sustainability of trout farming fed with insect meal.

This meeting provided a valuable space to explore the implications and potential of insects as a source of nutrition for animals intended for feeding, and to assess the environmental impact and prospects on the insect farming industry as a whole.
