NewRIFF goes to INSECTA 2023

In Magdeburg, Germany, from 13 to 14 September INSECTA 2023 took place a renowned international conference on the field of breeding and use of insects that in 2022 counted more than 230 participants from 30 different countries.

An excellent opportunity to make the project known internationally, in fact, among the more than 40 posters also the one on the newRIFF project entitled “The newRIFF project: new life for Rice by-products and agricultural Wastes: Insects bioconversion for Fish Feed production”.

During the conference two members of the newRIFF research team, Sara Bellezza Oddon (PhD) and Ilaria Biasato (PhD) of the Department of Agriculture, Forest and Food Sciences of the University of Turin, held two talks respectively: “Iso waste-based diets as substrate for yellow mealworm larvae” and “Live insect larvae and meat quality in broiler chickens: can the different cooking methods influence meat proximate composition?”.

In conclusion, INSECTA 2023 represented an important step forward in the promotion of the newRIFF project and in the dissemination of knowledge on the use of insects in agriculture and animal nutrition. This international event highlighted the potential for collaboration and innovation in the sector, opening new paths for the future of sustainable food production.
